The Barn-House has been produced by us for many years. If a Barn-House does not meet your needs, we can most likely create a custom one or two-story home based on your plans and ideas. We can produce a colonial, cape or ranch style home to meet your needs . Please talk with us about your ideas and requirements.
Shelter-Kit® Barn-Houses are beautiful, versatile, affordable and expandable at any time. They are available in 1½ and 2- story models. Each Barn-House kit contains the materials required for a weather-tight shell, including the pre-cut frame, flooring for two floors, exterior wall sheathing, siding, roof sheathing, trim, shingles, hardware, and detailed step-by-step instructions written specifically for the inexperienced owner-builder. No power tools are required for assembly of the kit. Custom options include higher ceilings, a full second floor, stairs, larger roof overhangs, dormers, cathedral ceilings, open lofts and larger studs & rafters for increased energy efficiency. We offer many door, window, skylight and siding options. Our Barn-House is designed so you can start out small, and add Shelter-Kit porches, decks or a custom designed Barn-House addition, at any time-now, or in the future. We have created many add-ons for customers over the years.
Customers can select widths from 16' and up, and any length ranging from 16' to 64'. Barn-Houses can be built in tee and ell configurations. Because there are no load-bearing walls (all Barn-Houses have post & beam frames) the floorplan for each level can be as open as you want. Doors and windows can be placed almost anywhere.
Like all Shelter-Kit® products, Barn-Houses are produced one at a time, each for a specific customer. They are not stockpiled. Quality is paramount, with each piece of lumber individually selected, cut, and packaged.
We now offer our new Green Home Kit , which is a green version of our Barn-House kit, and can be an important part of your Certified Green Building project.
