We offer custom-designed one-story house kits at affordable prices. We would be glad to talk with you about your ideas and requirements for a one-story home or cabin.
Our one-story house/cabin kits are ideal for a vacation cabin, ski lodge, studio, guest house or year-round home. They are equally adaptable for commercial uses - camp bunkhouse, ski trail shelter, pool cabana - and many more.
One example of our one-story kits is the Unit One, a 12' x 12' "modular" cabin that is available with optional Decks or Porches. It's also expandable - you can add any number of modules at any time to build a larger house. We began producing the Unit One in 1970. The Unit One is our most expensive kit on a per-square-foot basis. We offer many other high quality, lower cost one-story kit options.
The kit includes all of the materials required to construct a weather tight shell on your foundation: hardware, fasteners, framing, sheathing, sub-floors, roofing, flashing, drip edge and trim. Windows and doors are not included in the base kit price, but are available as options. A 12' sliding glass door and one window are included with Unit One kits. All materials are hand selected, carefully cut to precise dimensions and labeled with a part number. A small amount of siding must be cut at the site. An illustrated Construction Manual describes each step, from the construction of a foundation to the installation of the roof, all in simple, easy-to-understand language. Options include skylights, dormers, higher ceilings, and our double-stud wall framing system to allow for more insulation. We do not include any interior materials, except sub-floors.
